About Me
I am Kerry Smith and I carve birds. I started in 1981 when I saw a canvasback drake carving sitting in a shop in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. I still remember that carving today and for some reason I was drawn and captivated to that piece. I began collecting books, buying tools, and doing anything to learn about bird carving.
I have won ribbons and awards in shows at the California Open; the MidAtlantic Wildfowl Festival; the Ward World Championships, The North American Waterfowl Carving Championship, The Masters Carving Competition in Racine Wisconsin, the New England WoodCarving and Wildlife Art Expo, and the Northern Nationals.
